Supporting a North Queensland contractor
One contractor, their whole delivery function, run remotely. You take their projects end to end: site engineering and QA on the work in the ground, then the commercial side that usually gets left until it hurts. Cost tracking against budget, subcontractor and supplier invoice approvals, claims and variations, and the records that have to hold up when someone asks for them months later. This is the seat a regional contractor needs and cannot justify hiring on their own. You are their engineering and cost department, and you will see the difference you make in their margin rather than guessing at it.
Remote by default. You work from home, wherever home is. Site travel as required, in short stints. No camp, no roster, nothing resembling a FIFO life. On site, we cover your travel and accommodation and pay a meal allowance, and on top of that you earn a site allowance of 40% of your daily equivalent salary for every day you are there. At this band that is roughly $185 to $215 a day. You sit inside one contractor's business rather than bouncing between accounts, so you get to know their people, their plant and their jobs properly. Permanent salaried role, not a contract seat. Discretionary bonus when a project you are running is delivered under budget, at the company's discretion and not part of your fixed pay.
A civil site engineering background, with the commercial half of the job already under your belt. Comfortable owning cost tracking against budget and approving what gets paid. QA and conformance records done properly, not retrofitted at handover. Organised enough to run a contractor's jobs without sitting in their office. Straight with people. You will be the one telling a subbie their claim is short.
